New Zealand Visa
A New Zealand visa allows eligible travellers to enter New Zealand for purposes such as tourism, work, study, or residence. Australian and New Zealand citizens benefit from special travel arrangements, but holding a visa for one country does not automatically grant entry to the other. Eligible New Zealand citizens can generally live and work in Australia under the Special Category Visa, which may provide a pathway to permanent residency in Australia.
Family-Based Permanent Residency
Work-Based Permanent Residency
Work-based permanent residency in Australia allows eligible skilled workers to live and work in Australia indefinitely. This Australia pathway to permanent residency is typically available through employer-sponsored visas, skilled migration programs, or regional opportunities. Common visa options include the Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186), Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (Subclass 187), and Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189). Applicants must meet specific skill, occupation, and eligibility criteria, such as a positive skills assessment and relevant work experience.

New Zealand Visa
New Zealand citizens can generally live and work in Australia under the Special Category Visa (SCV), subject to eligibility requirements. They do not usually need to apply for a permanent resident visa to live and work in Australia under this arrangement. However, SCV holders do not automatically receive all the rights of Australian permanent residents or citizens. Eligible New Zealand citizens can explore applying for permanent residency in Australia as a New Zealander through an appropriate permanent visa pathway and may later qualify for Australian citizenship.
