Ontario is the most favoured province among new immigrants coming to Canada. The bustling province hosts Ottawa – the national capital city and Toronto – the economic hub of Canada. Home to a metropolitan environment, the province has its fair share of natural beauty and features serene lakes, many national parks and indigenous fauna.
Ontario is a top destination for immigrants in Canada owing to the following factors:
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program targets foreign nationals who wish to settle in Ontario. The program favours skilled workers, workers in sectors with labour shortages, investors, and entrepreneurs.
The province of Ontario operates the following immigration streams under its Provincial Nominee Program:
The Ontario Human Capital is for foreign nationals with the right skills, abilities, or experience favouring the Ontario labour force. To eligible for the Express Entry system, you must qualify for one of the economic programs – Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades or Canadian Experience Class. Those filing their Expression of Interest (EOI) under the FSW program need to score at least 67 points out of 100 awarded for the following criteria:

The applications filed online under PNP are generally processed within six months by IRCC. Most of the streams under the Ontario provincial Nominee program have a minimum application processing time of 60-90 days.
Applicants who qualify for any of the streams must apply under the category. After receiving a nomination from the province, the applicant has 30 days to accept the same. A candidate gets an additional 600 points as per the CRS after receiving a provincial nomination and gets placed at a higher score level. This increases the chances of getting picked from the pool in the upcoming draws.
After receiving an ITA (Invitation to Apply), the applicant needs to apply within 60 days.
The IRCC determines the outcome of the application. Those who receive their PR visa needs to stay in the province for at least two years if applied through PNP.
The province of Ontario secures candidates from the Express Entry pool as part of the Provincial Nominee program. To make sure you qualify under the right category, it is best to get your profile assessed by a qualified immigration expert. At Universal Adviser, we provide visa documentation and consultation services to candidates planning to migrate & settle in Ontario permanently.
