Before Express Entry, the selection criterion for Canada was “first come- first served”. However, after the introduction of Express Entry in 2015, IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Canadian Citizenship) started following the Comprehensive Ranking System.
The Comprehensive Ranking System is point-based and evaluates applicants against each other in the Express Entry pool based on many selection factors. The selection factors are age, education, work experience, language skills, and connections in Canada etc. Based on these selection factors, candidates receive their scores and only the higher-scoring candidates receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian Permanent Residence through express entry.
