Newfoundland and Labrador Issues 122 Provincial Nomination ITAs in Latest 2026 Draw

Newfoundland and Labrador has conducted another provincial immigration selection round, inviting 122 candidates to move forward with applications for provincial nomination.

The latest draw took place on August 18, 2026, and all invitations were issued through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP). Unlike earlier selections this year, the latest round did not include candidates under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

August Draw Focuses Entirely on NLPNP Candidates

The August 18 selection is notable because it represents a change in how Newfoundland and Labrador distributed invitations during its 2026 draws.

Since the province introduced its Expression of Interest (EOI) system in February 2025, candidates have been selected based on the province’s immigration priorities. Earlier rounds in 2026 generally included invitations through both the NLPNP and AIP.

The latest round, however, was limited entirely to the provincial nominee program. The province has not disclosed the individual NLPNP streams, occupations, industries, or candidate profiles covered by this draw. As a result, it is not possible to determine from the published figures which specific groups received the 122 invitations.

Newfoundland and Labrador's 2026 Invitation Activity

The province has now conducted 11 immigration selection rounds during 2026. Invitation numbers have varied considerably throughout the year, with some draws producing fewer than 100 invitations and others exceeding 400.

The August 18 draw was smaller than the previous round on August 10, when 208 invitations were issued. It was also substantially below the 445 invitations issued on July 28.

NLPNP Has Accounted for Most Invitations in 2026

Newfoundland and Labrador has issued 2,197 invitations through its provincial immigration selections between January 1 and August 18, 2026.

The latest selection further increases the NLPNP’s share of the province’s overall invitation activity this year. The absence of AIP invitations in this particular round does not necessarily indicate a permanent change to the province’s selection strategy. Newfoundland and Labrador has adjusted the mix of invitations from one draw to another, and the latest round provides no published indication that AIP selections have been discontinued.

How the Newfoundland and Labrador EOI System Works

Candidates interested in the NLPNP generally begin the process by creating an Expression of Interest through the province’s Immigration Accelerator Portal. The EOI allows the province to collect information about an applicant’s background and potential contribution to Newfoundland and Labrador. Which Candidates May Receive Priority?

Newfoundland and Labrador can consider several factors when deciding which candidates should receive invitations.

Completion of studies at a Newfoundland and Labrador post-secondary institution;

What Happens After an Invitation?

Receiving an invitation is only one stage of the provincial immigration process.

Candidates who are selected must submit their complete provincial nomination application within 60 days. The province then assesses the application against the requirements of the relevant NLPNP pathway.

If the application is approved, the candidate receives a provincial nomination and can proceed with an application for Canadian permanent residence through the federal immigration system.

The federal government conducts its own assessment before making a final decision on permanent residence. Successful applicants ultimately receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR).

EOI Profiles Do Not Stay Active Forever

Candidates should also pay attention to the validity period of their EOI.A Newfoundland and Labrador EOI remains active for 12 months. If the candidate does not receive an invitation during that period, the profile expires.

Candidates who still want to be considered after expiry must submit a new EOI profile.
This makes it important for prospective applicants to keep their information current and ensure that their profile continues to accurately reflect changes in employment, education, language results or other relevant circumstances.

Provincial Nomination Can Support the PR Journey
