Creating an Express Entry profile requires specific documents
While you don’t have to submit them initially, you’ll need information from the following:
- 1. A valid passport or travel document
- 2. Language test results (IELTS/CELPIP/PTE Core - English, TEF/TEC - French)
- 3. Proof of previous education in Canada or an Educational Credential Assessment Report if:
- a. Applying through Express Entry’s Federal Skilled Worker Program
- b. Seeking points for education outside of Canada
- 4. Provincial nomination certificate (if applicable)
- 5. A job offer from an eligible employer in Canada (if available)
- 6. Proof of previous work experience
- 7. Certificate of qualification in a trade occupation given by a province or territory (if applicable)

Documents Needed for Canada PR Application
Simply completing an online Express Entry profile or joining the pool does not assure an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. Your profile in the Express Entry pool is ranked against others and assigned a CRS score.
Higher-scoring candidates stand a better chance of receiving an ITA in the subsequent Express Entry draw conducted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Once invited, IRCC will prompt you to submit a comprehensive application for permanent residence.
Upon receiving an invitation from IRCC, you must provide the following documents required for Canada immigration, in addition to those used to create the Express Entry profile:

- If legally married, provide a marriage certificate.
- In the case of divorce, submit a divorce certificate and legal separation agreement.
- If widowed, include the death certificate of your late spouse.
- If you've engaged a representative, submit a Representative form.
Previously, candidates were required to undergo a medical exam before applying for a Canada Express Entry program. However, as of October 1, 2023, this is no longer mandatory. You are no longer obligated to undergo an upfront medical exam before submitting your PR application through Express Entry.
