Newfoundland and Labrador Issues 108 Invitations in Latest PNP Draw

Newfoundland and Labrador has continued its efforts to attract skilled foreign workers and newcomers by holding another provincial immigration draw in June 2026. The latest round of invitations reflects the province’s ongoing strategy to address labour shortages, strengthen economic growth, and support population retention across communities.

The June 10 selection round resulted in 108 invitations being issued through the province’s two major economic immigration pathways: the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). The draw represents the province’s seventh immigration selection round of 2026 and marks the first invitation round conducted during June.

Majority of Invitations Issued Through NLPNP

As seen in previous draws this year, most invitations were distributed through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program. Out of the total invitations issued, nearly five out of every six candidates were selected through the provincial nominee pathway.

    Program ITAs Issued (2026)
    NLPNP 89
    AIP 19
    Total invitations 108

Provincial authorities did not release information regarding specific occupations, industries, or immigration streams targeted during the draw. Similarly, no minimum score requirements or candidate profiles were disclosed.

    Invitation Numbers Show Slight Recovery

The latest draw interrupted a months-long trend of declining invitation volumes. While invitation numbers remain considerably lower than the large draws conducted earlier in the year, the June 10 round recorded a small increase compared to the previous selection held in late May.

Nearly 1,500 Invitations Issued So Far in 2026

Since the beginning of the year, the province has invited a significant number of prospective immigrants through its economic immigration programs.
By June 10, Newfoundland and Labrador had issued a combined total of 1,487 invitations across the NLPNP and AIP pathways. More than 80% of these invitations have been allocated through the provincial nominee program, highlighting its central role in the province’s immigration strategy.

The consistent use of both programs demonstrates the province’s commitment to helping employers fill workforce gaps while encouraging newcomers to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador.

How Candidates Can Enter the Selection Pool

Individuals interested in immigrating through either the NLPNP or the Atlantic Immigration Program must first create and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile. For most applicants, obtaining a qualifying job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador is a key requirement before entering the pool. Entrepreneur-focused immigration streams remain one of the few exceptions to this rule.

During the EOI submission process, candidates provide information related to:

After submission, provincial immigration officials review candidate profiles and select individuals who best meet the province’s labour market and economic priorities.

What Happens After Receiving an Invitation?

Candidates selected in a draw receive an invitation to move forward with a formal application. Applicants generally have up to 60 days to submit the required documentation and complete their nomination or endorsement application. The process differs depending on the immigration pathway:

Once approved, candidates receive either a provincial nomination or an endorsement certificate, allowing them to apply for Canadian permanent residence through the federal government.

    Who May Receive Priority Consideration?

Newfoundland and Labrador may give preference to candidates whose profiles align closely with provincial economic needs. Priority may be given to applicants who:

These selection priorities help the province address labour shortages while improving newcomer retention rates.

    Permanent Residence Processing Times

After obtaining provincial approval, candidates must complete the federal permanent residence process.

Current estimated processing times vary by immigration pathway:

    Immigration Pathway Estimated Processing Time
    Enhanced PNP 6 months
    Base PNP 13 months
    Atlantic Immigration Program 26 months

Processing times can change based on application volumes and federal immigration priorities.

    Conclusion

The latest draw confirms that Newfoundland and Labrador remains active in recruiting international talent despite lower invitation volumes than earlier in the year. With regular selection rounds continuing and ongoing demand for workers across multiple sectors, skilled foreign professionals with job offers in the province continue to have viable pathways toward Canadian permanent residence.
As labour shortages persist across Atlantic Canada, both the NLPNP and the Atlantic Immigration Program are expected to remain important immigration tools for employers and prospective newcomers throughout 2026.
