Prince Edward Island Issues 181 Invitations Under Provincial Nominee Program
The latest selection takes PEI’s invitation total for the year to 1,034. The result also keeps the province on course with its worker-oriented immigration strategy, which is designed to attract people whose skills can help address local employment gaps.

Three PEI Colleges and Universities Get Priority Recognition
International graduates from the following three institutions were given priority consideration:
- University of Prince Edward Island
- Holland College
- Collège de l’Île
For graduates who have remained in PEI and entered the local workforce, this preference can be particularly relevant when profiles are assessed against the province’s current priorities.
PEI Has Now Completed Eight Draws This Year
The August 20 exercise was the eighth PEI selection of 2026. Invitation numbers have changed from month to month, but the province has consistently maintained its emphasis on candidates who can contribute to the island’s workforce.

August produced the second-largest monthly result so far this year, behind July’s 195 invitations. PEI has now moved beyond 1,000 invitations across its 2026 selections.
Labour Impact and Express Entry Candidates Selected
The 181 invitations were issued through two provincial routes: Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry. Labour Impact is divided into three pathways:
- Skilled Worker
- Critical Worker
- International Graduate
The province does not release a detailed breakdown showing exactly how many invitations went to each stream or occupation. Applicants should therefore view the published results alongside PEI’s broader sector priorities.
No Business Category Invitations So Far in 2026
PEI has not issued invitations under the Business Impact Category during its 2026 selection rounds to date.
Four More Rounds Are Scheduled
PEI’s 2026 plan calls for 12 selection rounds. The remaining dates currently listed by the province are:
- September 17, 2026
- October 15, 2026
- November 19, 2026
- December 17, 2026
The published calendar is only an expected timetable. PEI can move a draw, hold one outside the listed dates or make other changes. Even so, most selections this year have closely followed the announced schedule.
Entering PEI’s Candidate Pool
People seeking consideration must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile through the provincial immigration system. PEI then assesses and ranks candidates using factors such as:
- English or French language ability
- Educational background
- Area and location of study
- Relevant professional experience
- Skills connected to priority occupations
- Employment in Prince Edward Island
- Canadian work experience
- Overall alignment with PEI’s workforce needs
The Process After an Invitation
An invitation gives the selected candidate the opportunity to submit a provincial nomination application. The complete application must be filed within 30 days.
Once PEI approves the nomination, the applicant can continue with the federal permanent residence application through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Provincial selection does not itself guarantee PR, because the federal government makes the final immigration decision.
Applicants approved for permanent residence receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and can then complete their landing process.

International graduates with PEI education and relevant local employment may also want to keep their profiles ready for upcoming selections. With four rounds still expected before the end of 2026, candidates should make sure their EOI contains current information about their education, language ability, employment and Canadian work history.
