Alberta Receives 200 More Nomination Spots for 2026, Raising AAIP Capacity to 6,603
Alberta has secured an additional 200 provincial nomination spaces for 2026, creating more opportunities for eligible foreign workers to pursue Canadian permanent residence through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).
The new allocation takes Alberta’s total nomination capacity for the year from 6,403 to 6,603 spaces. The province has also revised how these nominations will be distributed among its immigration streams, with additional capacity directed toward several worker-focused pathways.

Alberta Expands Its 2026 Immigration Capacity
The additional nomination spaces give Alberta greater room to select workers who can contribute to areas facing labour shortages across the province.

Alberta Opportunity Stream Gets the Biggest Increase
This stream already represents a substantial portion of Alberta’s provincial immigration program. More than 23,000 Worker Expression of Interest profiles were recorded in its inventory as of July 30, making it one of the most competitive areas of the AAIP.
The additional allocation could therefore be significant for workers who are eligible under the stream, although an increased nomination quota does not mean every candidate in the inventory will receive an invitation.

Several of the invitation rounds conducted during this period ranked among the biggest held by Alberta in 2026. Large-scale selections were recorded under:
