Alberta PNP Issues 1,110 ITAs in September 2026 Across 9 Draws

Alberta continued its targeted approach to provincial immigration in September 2026, selecting skilled workers through multiple pathways under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). The province conducted nine separate selections during the month, inviting a combined 1,110 candidates to pursue a pathway toward Canadian permanent residence.

The September selections covered a range of labour-market priorities, including technology, healthcare, agriculture, manufacturing and law enforcement. Alberta also issued invitations through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, giving eligible workers already connected to the province another route toward permanent residence.

Alberta PNP Draws in September 2026

The September 2026 selections show that Alberta is using different pathways to target candidates based on specific workforce requirements.

The minimum scores varied considerably depending on the stream and selection criteria.

Draw Date AAIP Stream / Pathway Minimum Score Invitations
    September 23, 2026 Alberta Opportunity Stream 58 113
    September 22, 2026 Alberta Express Entry – Accelerated Tech Pathway 59 100
September 21, 2026 Alberta Express Entry – Law Enforcement Pathway 49 Less than 10
    September 18, 2026 Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors – Healthcare 62 100
    September 15, 2026 Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors – Agriculture 60 18
    September 10, 2026 Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors – Manufacturing 60 48
    September 9, 2026 Dedicated Healthcare Pathway – Express Entry 60 51
    September 3, 2026 Alberta Express Entry – Accelerated Tech Pathway 60 96
    September 1, 2026 Alberta Opportunity Stream 56 575

Across these nine selections, Alberta issued 1,110 invitations to prospective provincial nominees.

Technology and Healthcare Remain Key Priorities

Technology professionals received invitations through the Accelerated Tech Pathway on September 3 and September 22. The two selections invited 96 and 100 candidates respectively, with minimum scores of 60 and 59.

Healthcare workers were also selected through two different pathways. The September 9 Dedicated Healthcare selection issued 51 invitations, while another healthcare-focused selection under the Alberta Express Entry Stream invited 100 candidates on September 18.

These selections demonstrate Alberta’s continued use of targeted immigration pathways to address specific workforce requirements rather than relying solely on broad-based invitations.

Alberta Also Targets Agriculture and Manufacturing Workers

The province’s September selections extended beyond technology and healthcare.

An agriculture-focused draw on September 15 invited 18 candidates with a minimum score of 60. Alberta also conducted a manufacturing-focused selection on September 10, issuing 48 invitations to candidates with scores of at least 60.

These targeted selections provide opportunities for candidates whose professional backgrounds correspond with sectors identified as important to Alberta’s labour market.

Some of the Largest Draws of the Year

Several of the invitation rounds conducted during this period ranked among the biggest held by Alberta in 2026. Large-scale selections were recorded under:

These larger draws indicate that Alberta continues to rely heavily on immigration to meet employer demand and fill vacancies that remain difficult to address through domestic recruitment alone.

Alberta Opportunity Stream Delivers the Largest Selections

The two Alberta Opportunity Stream selections accounted for the largest number of invitations during September.

On September 1, Alberta issued 575 invitations, with a minimum score of 56. A further 113 candidates were invited through the same stream on September 23, with the minimum score increasing to 58.

Together, these two selections accounted for 688 invitations, representing the majority of Alberta’s invitations during the month.

    A Large Candidate Pool Remains

Despite receiving more nomination spaces, Alberta continues to face a major imbalance between the number of people seeking nomination and the number of spaces available.

As of July 30, the AAIP had 36,948 Worker Expressions of Interest (WEOIs) in its inventory.

The distribution across major pathways was:

Stream / Pathway WEOIs in Inventory
    Alberta Opportunity Stream 23,056
    Rural Renewal Stream 1,850
    Tourism and Hospitality Stream 3,558
    Dedicated Health Care Pathways 1,332
    Accelerated Tech Pathway 2,136
    Law Enforcement Pathway 53
Priority Sector Draws / Initiatives 4,963

The Alberta Opportunity Stream accounts for the largest share of the inventory, with more than 23,000 profiles.

By comparison, the Law Enforcement pathway has only 53 WEOIs. This considerable difference in candidate numbers is one factor that helps illustrate why nomination spaces are not distributed evenly across the program.

    Conclusion

The September 2026 results highlight the range of opportunities available through Alberta’s provincial immigration system. Rather than concentrating all invitations in one category, the province selected candidates from technology, healthcare, agriculture, manufacturing, law enforcement, and other eligible worker groups.

For skilled professionals interested in Canada PR, choosing the right Alberta pathway is therefore important. Candidates should assess their occupation, work history, education, language results, employment situation, and Express Entry eligibility before determining which AAIP option may be suitable.
