    Express Entry Draw

In a recent Express Entry draw held on July 4, 2023, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) extended invitations to 700 candidates. This draw, open to all programs, required applicants to achieve a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 511.
Interestingly, this draw is a surprise considering that the IRCC has announced its intention to invite 1,500 healthcare workers through category-based selection on July 5. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the IRCC will also conduct the first-ever category-based selection Express Entry draw for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) professions, targeting candidates with relevant work experience. The specific CRS score requirement for healthcare and STEM candidates has yet to be revealed.
On June 28, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) made history by conducting the first-ever Express Entry category-based draw. In this draw, they invited 500 healthcare workers who had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 476. Simultaneously, IRCC announced its plan to ask professionals in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) occupations in an upcoming category-based Express Entry round.
The current CRS score requirement of 511 is the highest observed in any all-program draw of 2023. It stands significantly higher than the previous all-program draw on June 27, where 4,300 candidates received invitations with a minimum CRS score of 486. Moreover, it surpasses the minimum CRS score of 476 required in the category-based draw on June 28.
Category-based draws are a novel addition to the Express Entry system, aimed at inviting candidates with specific occupational backgrounds or in-demand attributes. There are six new categories that make candidates eligible for these draws:

The introduction of category-based selection draws became possible due to changes to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act in June 2022. These changes empower the immigration minister to invite economic immigrants based on specific attributes aligned with Canada’s economic priorities or promote the French language outside of Quebec.
