Alberta's Late-October Immigration Draws Bring Over 1,100 Skilled Workers Closer to PR

Alberta is continuously strengthening its labour market by extending over 1,100 invitations to skilled professionals through four targeted draws in the final week of October 2025. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program, one of Canada’s most active provincial nominee programs, recently focused its rounds on occupations relating to healthcare, construction, policing, and general skilled trades.

Four Immigration Draws Target Key Sectors

Between October 23 and October 29, 2025, a total of four draws under AAIP were held to meet the increased workforce demand in Alberta.

Leading this round was the AOS, which invited 900 candidates who were already employed in the province and had valid job offers from eligible Alberta employers. This stream is for individuals contributing directly to the province’s economy through full-time employment. Other draws focused on more detailed skill categories:

    Understanding Alberta's Immigration Pathways

    Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS):

This stream caters to foreign workers who already live and work in Alberta with employment opportunities in the long term. It continues to be the largest and most consistent stream under AAIP, appealing to individuals with essential skills and ongoing provincial ties.

    Dedicated Health Care Pathway:

This category was designed to attract qualified health professionals to come and practice as nurses, doctors, and other medical support staff. It seeks to fulfill vital health-care needs in Alberta’s hospitals, clinics, and rural health centers.
    Law Enforcement Pathway:

It provides a pathway for police services across Alberta to meet their staffing needs by enabling individuals with relevant policing experience and job offers from authorized Alberta police organizations to be qualified for permanent residency.

    Priority Sectors Pathway (Construction):
As Alberta’s infrastructure continues to expand, the construction-focused pathway targets professionals like engineers, tradespeople, and supervisors who are significant to development projects.

    Expanded Nomination Quota for 2025

Alberta’s federal nomination quota was increased mid-way through 2025 to support the growing economic needs of the province. The province’s allocation increased from 4,875 at the beginning of the year to 6,603 nominations following a September adjustment.
By November 5, 2025, the province had already issued 5,137 nominations, leaving just over 1,460 slots available for the remainder of the year. This increase shows that the province is quite active in welcoming even more skilled workers and in ensuring the accelerated processing of immigration under the AAIP.

Alberta's Approach to Building a Resilient Workforce

The recent immigration activity of Alberta reflects a focused approach to addressing both urban and rural labour shortages. It makes sure that the province’s current economic demands are met directly through customized draws for industries like healthcare, policing, and construction.
Stronger nomination allocations from the federal government have enabled Alberta to continue with an active immigration pace in 2025. This expansion also brings new opportunities to international workers desiring permanent residency in one of Canada’s fastest-growing provinces.

What the Latest Draws Signal for Immigration Candidates

These November selections indicate that Alberta is focused on:

For candidates with Alberta experience, strong employment ties, or backgrounds in healthcare, the coming weeks may present additional opportunities as the province works toward meeting its year-end targets.

    Boost from the Federal Government

Previously this month, the federal government approved Alberta an additional 1,528 nomination spots, bringing the provincial allocation up to 6,403 for the year 2025.
Although formal announcements are still awaited on Alberta’s immigration portal, the shift implies that there will be more opportunities open to skilled workers in various sectors during the coming months.

    More Invitations Expected Before Year-End

With over 1,400 nomination slots still available, Alberta is likely to issue more rounds of invitations prior to the close of 2025. Workers in health, skilled trades, policing, technology, and rural occupations have the best prospects of being invited in the upcoming draws.
For foreign nationals looking to transition from temporary work to permanent residence, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program continues to offer a clear and achievable pathway that supports both personal growth and the province’s long-term economic goals.
