Alberta Issues 1,037 Invitations in Latest AAIP Draws

The Alberta government continued its active immigration efforts in late June by conducting six provincial nomination draws under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). The selection rounds, held between June 17 and June 29, resulted in 1,037 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) being issued to eligible candidates across multiple immigration pathways.

The latest invitation rounds reflected Alberta’s ongoing strategy of attracting professionals in sectors facing labour shortages, with healthcare, technology, aviation, tourism, hospitality, and skilled trades among the province’s top priorities.

Six Draws Conducted in Less Than Two Weeks

The June invitation rounds targeted both Express Entry and non-Express Entry candidates through several AAIP streams. While specialized pathways received focused invitations, the Alberta Opportunity Stream remained the province’s largest source of invitations during this period.
Nearly seven out of every ten invitations issued in these draws were allocated through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, highlighting its continued importance in Alberta’s provincial immigration system.

Priority Occupations Continue to Receive Strong Support

The latest series of draws demonstrates Alberta’s targeted approach to addressing workforce shortages.
Healthcare professionals were invited through both Express Entry and non-Express Entry Dedicated Health Care Pathways, while technology workers received invitations through the Accelerated Tech Pathway. Alberta also conducted its first aviation-focused selection round of 2026, inviting candidates working in aviation and skilled trades through the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

These occupation-specific draws are designed to help employers fill critical vacancies while supporting the province’s long-term economic growth.

More Than 9,500 Invitations Issued This Year

Alberta has maintained a steady pace of immigration selections throughout 2026.
By June 29, the province had issued at least 9,599 invitations across 56 selection rounds, making it one of Canada’s most active provincial nominee programs this year.

The frequent draws provide skilled foreign workers with multiple opportunities to receive a provincial nomination based on Alberta’s evolving labour market needs.

Some of the Largest Draws of the Year

Several of the invitation rounds conducted during this period ranked among the biggest held by Alberta in 2026. Large-scale selections were recorded under:

These larger draws indicate that Alberta continues to rely heavily on immigration to meet employer demand and fill vacancies that remain difficult to address through domestic recruitment alone.

Provincial Nomination Allocation Nears Halfway Mark

By focusing on sectors such as healthcare, technology, aviation, hospitality, and skilled trades, Alberta continues to use its Provincial Nominee Program to address workforce shortages while supporting economic development.

With a significant number of nomination spaces still available for 2026 and thousands of candidates waiting in the selection pool, additional invitation rounds are expected in the coming months as the province continues to meet its immigration objectives.
