Eligibility Criteria to Immigrate to Canada as a Nurse

Diploma in nursing• 4 years Degree (Bachelor’s) from an approved university or college
Applicant has to appear for NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination) for those applying for a Registered Nurse or the CPNRE-Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination for those applying for a Licensed Practical Nurse.

The online points-based portal allows people to apply for Canadian immigration within a few steps. Applicants must meet the standard CRS score will receive ITA (Invitation to Apply) for further process of Canada PR visa. Nurses can apply under two categories of express entry system
1. Federal Skilled Worker Program – candidate must have one year of experience in the required field in the last 10 years, 7 CLB (Canadian language benchmark) score, and medical and legal proof.
2. Canadian Experience Class – Candidates must have one year of experience in the past three years. Candidate applying under the Skill A category need a 7 CLB Score whereas candidate with Skill B requires 5 CLB Points.
Express Entry applicants obtain points based on their skills, work experience, age, education, and language skills. Top-scoring applicants will be invited to apply for permanent residency in fast-track draws every two weeks. In 2022, Canada’s Minister Sean Fraser announced the express entry draw will start the early July.
PNP is a much easier way in comparison to other immigration pathways. Some of the PNP draws distinctively take place for nurses, while others only require qualified work experience. Sometimes PNPs hold draws for immigration applications exclusively for nurses.
Quebec supervises its immigration system. Although Canada still has the Quebec Immigration Application Closing Statement, some programs such as PCP and Express Entry are not available in Quebec.
As an alternative, Quebec has its migration method such as Regular Skilled Worker Program and the Quebec Experience Program. Nurses may qualify for any of these programs. Both programs require workers to have practical knowledge as well as French language skills.
