BREAKING NEWS: MPNP PNP Latest Draw #277
Manitoba Opens New Provincial Nomination Opportunity for Targeted Skilled Workers
Manitoba has conducted another provincial immigration selection round, giving skilled workers recruited through specific initiatives a fresh opportunity to pursue Canadian permanent residence.
On August 13, 2026, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued 53 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) through its two Skilled Worker pathways. The latest round was narrowly focused on candidates who had received invitations through Manitoba’s strategic recruitment initiatives. With this selection, Manitoba’s number of MPNP draws conducted in 2026 has reached 16.
53 Candidates Selected in Manitoba’s Latest Draw
Unlike a broad invitation round, the August 13 selection concentrated on applicants connected with designated recruitment programs. These initiatives are designed to help Manitoba identify workers whose skills, backgrounds, language abilities or community connections align with provincial priorities. The 53 invitations were distributed among several strategic categories:
| Strategic Initiative | Invitations Issued |
|---|---|
| Employer Services | 15 |
| Francophone Community | 13 |
| Ethnocultural Communities | 12 |
| Regional Communities | 9 |
| Temporary Public Policy | 4 |
| Total | 53 |
Employer Services accounted for the largest portion of the selection, with 15 invitations. Francophone applicants followed with 13, while 12 invitations went to candidates connected with ethnocultural community initiatives. The province also selected nine candidates through regional community initiatives and four individuals associated with the former temporary public policy concerning work permits for prospective provincial nominees.

Who Was Eligible for This Selection?
Candidates needed to have an appropriate strategic recruitment connection recorded in their Expression of Interest (EOI) profile. This included individuals who had been selected through an MPNP recruitment mission or who qualified under the former temporary public policy that supported prospective provincial nominees with work permit options.
Simply having a skilled occupation or meeting the general requirements of Manitoba’s Skilled Worker Stream was therefore not enough for this particular selection. The applicant’s EOI profile also needed to contain the relevant information demonstrating eligibility under the targeted initiative.
Express Entry Candidates Also Received Invitations
Manitoba also continued to connect its provincial nomination process with Canada’s federal Express Entry system. Out of the 53 LAAs issued during the latest round, six went to applicants who had an active Express Entry profile number and a valid job seeker validation code.
A provincial nomination can be particularly valuable for an eligible Express Entry candidate because an enhanced provincial nomination can provide a substantial CRS advantage and potentially improve the applicant’s prospects of receiving an invitation for permanent residence from the federal pool.
Manitoba Has Now Issued 4,875 Skilled Worker Invitations in 2026
The latest selection brings the total number of LAAs issued through Manitoba’s Skilled Worker Stream to 4,875 as of August 13, 2026.
The figure highlights the continuing role of the Skilled Worker Stream within Manitoba’s broader immigration strategy. Rather than relying solely on general selection criteria, the province has increasingly used targeted initiatives to identify candidates who can contribute to specific labour-market and community priorities.
Why Some Eligible Candidates Were Not Selected
Meeting the apparent requirements of a draw does not necessarily guarantee an invitation. The MPNP identified documentation and profile-related issues that could prevent an otherwise eligible candidate from receiving an LAA. One possible issue involves language-test information. Candidates who entered an approved English or French test into their EOI profile needed to provide a valid test identification number. Their language results also had to remain valid.
Another potential problem involved strategic recruitment details. Candidates claiming eligibility through one of Manitoba’s targeted initiatives needed to enter a valid invitation number in their EOI profile. Errors or missing information in either area could therefore affect selection.

| Month | Applications in Assessment |
|---|---|
| January | 2,605 |

Skilled Worker – NB Graduates
- Graduation from a PGWP-eligible program at a New Brunswick DLI
- Full-time employment or a job offer from an eligible NB employer
Conclusion
The August 13 selection demonstrates that Manitoba continues to use targeted immigration measures to identify candidates connected with employers, communities, language groups and regional recruitment efforts.
For prospective applicants, this means monitoring the province’s selection priorities can be just as important as meeting the basic requirements of a Skilled Worker pathway.
Candidates should also keep their EOI information accurate and current, particularly details concerning language testing, recruitment invitations and Express Entry credentials. Incorrect or incomplete information can affect eligibility even when a candidate otherwise appears to meet the criteria of a selection round.
Manitoba’s continued use of strategic recruitment also underlines the importance of understanding which provincial pathway best matches an applicant’s profile before submitting an immigration application.
