Canada invited 545 immigrants under the Fast Entry Program to apply for permanent residence cards on May 11, 2022. All previously invited candidates had received nominations from the Provincial Nominee Program of Canada and had a Comprehensive Ranking System score of 753.
This time the minimum score was comparatively high and Express Entry profile candidates automatically got 600 points to the crs score as they receive a PNP nomination. In the absence of nomination, the lowest-scoring candidates would have gained 172 basis points. In the last Canada Draw, the penalty rule was set for December 15, 2021.
Applicants with the meeting the lowest eligibility score were only invited if they had submitted their profile in the Express Entry pool before the mentioned date.
In the earlier invitation, IRCC had invited 829 PNP candidates with at least a 772 CRS Score.
Canada’s Immigration Minister MR. Sean Fraser made a statement on April 22 that invitations’ within Canada Express Entry System for Federal Skilled Worker Program and Canadian Experience Class candidates will start the nomination again in the beginning of July.
Simultaneously, the Minister of Canada stated that he look ahead to commence the majority of the latest Express Entry applications to be taken under the course of action in the span of a six-month service standard.
This is foremost news since Express Entry draws for Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) candidates have been clogged since December 2020, while draws for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates have been paused from September 2021.
Visa processing times for these programs are also currently set at the target of six months. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) takes a temporary break to continue with optimism skilled applications waiting in line and diminish the Express Entry Program backlog which was worsening by the pandemic.
This temporary policy change served to reduce the flow of skilled foreign immigrants into the Canadian labor market at a time when there are almost a million job vacancies and historically low unemployment rates.
Immigration has now become more essential than ever in maple leaf and yet again Government of Canada is planning to become a major vehicle to attract international talent and grow its economy through express entry.
According to the IRCC at the April 22 press conference, the Express Entry backlog has more than halved from September 2021 to 48,000 by March 2022.Additionally, the number of permanent residency decisions from 2022 made in the first quarter doubled compared to the same period in 2021.
IRCC issued 156,000 decisions regarding the PR visa between January 1 and March 31, 2022.
By 2024, IRCC plans to invite over 110,000 newcomers each year through Express Entry System.
This immigration pathway was started by the government of Canada with the aim of rapidly boosting the labor force in the nation. There are three categories to apply under the express entry profile.
Each NOC Code has a position in each category. When an applicant’s score matches the CRS Score and his/her profile in any of the above programs, the IRCC member will provide the Certificate of Permanent Residence (COPR) to the candidate. Later on, approved permanent resident candidates by the Canadian government can begin the post-landing process.
