Manitoba Issues 126 LAAs in First PNP Draw

In a significant development for immigration hopefuls, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted its first draw of July 2024, issuing a total of 126 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) to eligible candidates seeking Canadian Permanent Residency.
This draw marks a crucial step for individuals applying through Manitoba’s Provincial Nominee Program, reflecting Manitoba’s commitment to attracting skilled workers and international graduates. The draw targeted candidates from two key categories of the MPNP:

    International Education Stream:

Candidates in this category were issued 85 LAAs. These individuals had previously declared their eligibility under the International Education Stream, designed for graduates from Manitoba post-secondary institutions who meet specific criteria to apply for provincial nomination.

    Skilled Worker Overseas:

A total of 41 LAAs were issued to candidates under the Skilled Worker Overseas category. These candidates were directly invited by the MPNP under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative, highlighting Manitoba’s efforts to fill critical labor market gaps with skilled workers from abroad.
The ranking score of the lowest-ranked candidate invited in this draw was 709, emphasizing the competitive nature of Manitoba’s PNP draws.
Of particular note, 19 LAAs were issued to candidates who had previously declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code, indicating Manitoba’s coordination with the federal Express Entry system to streamline immigration processes.

Understanding the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

The MPNP is a provincial immigration program that allows Manitoba to nominate individuals and families for immigration to Canada based on specific criteria set by the province. Through the MPNP, Manitoba aims to attract individuals who have the skills and experience required by the local labor market, as well as those who have studied in Manitoba and wish to remain in the province post-graduation.
Candidates interested in immigrating to Manitoba through the MPNP must generally follow a multi-step process that involves applying to the program, receiving a provincial nomination if selected, and then applying for Canadian Permanent Residency to the federal government. The program is designed to address Manitoba’s economic and demographic needs by selecting individuals who can contribute positively to the province’s economy and community.
The issuance of 126 LAAs in this draw underscores Manitoba’s proactive approach to immigration and its commitment to facilitating the integration of skilled workers and international graduates into the province’s workforce and society.
