Manitoba Invites 46 Skilled Worker Candidates in Latest PNP Draw
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has conducted another immigration selection round, issuing invitations to skilled workers who may qualify for provincial nomination. The latest draw took place on March 12, 2026, targeting candidates under the province’s Skilled Worker Stream.
Overview of the Latest MPNP Draw
During the Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #266, Manitoba issued a total of 46 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to eligible candidates.
Invitations were extended through two key immigration pathways under the Skilled Worker Stream:
- Skilled Worker in Manitoba
- Skilled Worker Overseas
Distribution of Invitations by Recruitment Initiative
- Employer Services: 17 invitations
- Francophone Community: 12 invitations
- Ethnocultural Communities: 9 invitation
- Regional Communities: 6 invitations
- Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective Provincial Nominee Program Candidates 2 invitations
The Employer Services initiative accounted for the largest share of invitations, representing roughly 37% of all LAAs issued in this round. These initiatives are designed to help Manitoba employers and communities recruit workers with the skills and experience required in the province.
Express Entry Candidates Also Included
Out of the 46 invitations, five candidates had active profiles in the federal immigration system managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) through Express Entry.
Applicants who receive a provincial nomination through Manitoba’s enhanced streams can gain a significant advantage in the federal immigration selection process.
Fewer Invitations Compared to the Previous Draw
The number of invitations in this draw was lower than the previous round conducted on February 26, 2026, when 72 candidates received invitations through the Skilled Worker Stream.
This means the province issued 36% fewer invitations in the latest draw.
Despite the smaller selection round, Manitoba has already issued 249 invitations to skilled workers in 2026 through the MPNP, demonstrating the province’s continued efforts to recruit skilled workers.
Manitoba’s Focus on Skilled Worker Immigration in 2026
This targeted approach helps Manitoba address workforce shortages and support economic growth across the province.
Temporary Public Policy for Work Permits Ends in 2025
However, Manitoba’s participation in this special policy ended in December 2025, meaning future draws may no longer rely on this pathway as frequently.
Why Some Eligible Candidates May Not Receive an Invitation
According to the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program, candidates who believe they met the criteria for this draw but did not receive an invitation may want to review their Expression of Interest profile. Common reasons for not receiving an invitation include:
- Entering an expired or incorrect language test result.
- Failing to provide a valid language test identification number.
- Submitting an incorrect strategic recruitment invitation number.
The MPNP advises candidates to carefully update their EOI profiles if errors are identified. Correcting inaccurate information can ensure they remain eligible for consideration in future draws.
Sharp Decline in Temporary Resident Admissions
In a major policy shift, the federal government has announced plans to substantially reduce the number of temporary resident admissions beginning in 2026:
| Category | 2025 Target | 2026 Target | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total Temporary Residents | 673,650 | 385,000 | ↓ 43% |
| International Students | 305,900 | 155,000 | ↓ 49% |
| Temporary Foreign Workers | 367,750 | 230,000 | ↓ 37% |
Skilled Worker – NB Graduates
- Graduation from a PGWP-eligible program at a New Brunswick DLI
- Full-time employment or a job offer from an eligible NB employer
Manitoba Draw Results by Recruitment Category
| Recruitment Category | LAAs Issued |
|---|---|
| Employer Services | 10 |
| Francophone Community | 27 |
| Regional Communities | 5 |
| Temporary Public Policy (TPP) | 21 |
The largest share of invitations went to Francophone candidates and individuals supported under Manitoba’s temporary work permit facilitation policy.
