Alberta PNP invited 248 Express Entry Candidates for PR

As the result of Alberta’s October 26 draws are out, it has invited 248 Express Entry candidates for Permanent Residency through its PNP.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) had set the cut-off score to a minimum of 300 in the Express Entry stream. It was the 6th draw of its kind with the minimum cut-off score to be so low.

With the latest round in count, the number of Express Entry candidates invited for provincial nominations has summed up to 6158, since January 2021. It has resumed its draws after being on a long hiatus since 2020. This draw sends provincial nominations to Express Entry candidates for PR.

The allowance for the number of nominations issued to Alberta in 2021 is 6,250 candidates.

How does the Alberta Express Entry Stream work?

The Alberta Express Entry Stream is a PNP-aligned Express Entry stream that allows the province of Alberta to choose the eligible candidates from the pool of Express Entry to nominate for PR.

Express Entry manages three Federal High Skilled programs:

On being eligible for the Express Entry pool, the candidates would receive a CRS score based on various factors in consideration, which would determine their chances of getting selected for the PR. The scores are determined by factors such as age, education, work experience, language ability in English or French, and other factors.

Canada’s immigration department holds draws to invite the high-scoring Express Entry candidates for PR.

It is quite possible to enter Canada through the Express Entry stream but having a PNP nomination adds up extra marks up to 600 CRS points, which can increase the chances of getting invited for PR.

A valid job offer from an employer of Alberta

The candidate should have a minimum of one year of work experience in a skilled occupation.

The AINP provides a list of Non-eligible Occupations rather than a list of eligible occupations. Many candidates apply under this stream as food service supervisors, transport truck drivers, and cooks among others.

Language test scores should be above the cutoff points.

The educational credentials should be parallel to the degree at the Canadian level, at a minimum.

Having a blood relative in Canada can increase the chances of getting invited.
