Express Entry Transport Occupations Draw

670 ITAs Issued by IRCC for Candidates in Transport Occupations- Express Entry Draw
Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) extended invitations to apply (ITAs) in the third Express Entry draw of the week, which took place on the 20th of December.
In this particular draw, the focus was on candidates in transport occupations, and a total of 670 candidates were invited to apply. To qualify for an ITA, candidates must have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 435.
Details of the draw: December 20, 2023
- Total ITAs issued: 670
- Type of draw: Transport occupations (2023-1)
- Date and time of round: December 20, 2023 at 15:55:23 UTC
- CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 670
- Tie-breaking rule: August 30. 2023 at 17:30:21 UTC
If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
This draw came on the heels of two others earlier in the week on December 18 and 19. The December 18 draw was all-encompassing, inviting 1,325 candidates with a minimum CRS of 542.
On December 19, IRCC specifically invited 1,000 candidates in a second category-based draw for trade’s occupations in the same year. For eligibility, candidates were required to have a minimum CRS score of 425. The initial draw of this kind occurred on August 3, when 1,500 candidates were invited.
The preceding week also saw IRCC conducting three draws. On December 8, a category-based selection draw for candidates in STEM occupations resulted in 5,900 candidates with a minimum CRS of 481 receiving invitations. Additionally, on December 7th, a draw focused on individuals with French language proficiency invited 1,000 candidates from the Express Entry pool with a minimum CRS of 470.
December 6 featured an all-program draw for candidates with a minimum CRS of 561, marking the first draw in over a month. Before that, the most recent draw occurred on October 26, a category-based selection draw for candidates in healthcare occupations.
IRCC did not provide a specific reason for the temporary pause in draws. However, on November 14, the department acknowledged an IT issue with the Express Entry profile builder for candidates attempting to upload their final application to IRCC’s website after receiving an ITA. Although the glitch was fixed on November 16, draws did not immediately resume.
Possible reasons for the delay in Express Entry draws include meeting targets in the Immigration Levels Plan, IT issues, staffing changes, or updates to the Comprehensive Ranking System.

What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is a points-based immigration system used by the Canadian government to manage and select candidates for immigration to Canada. It applies to three main economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
Candidates interested in immigrating to Canada through Express Entry create an online profile, where they provide information about their skills, work experience, education, language proficiency, and other factors. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is then used to assign points to each candidate based on these factors.
Regular draws are conducted from the Express Entry pool, and candidates with the highest CRS scores receive invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada. Once invited, applicants have a limited time to submit a complete application.
Express Entry is a key pathway for skilled workers to immigrate to Canada and contribute to the country’s economic growth. The system allows Canada to select candidates who have the skills and attributes needed to succeed in the Canadian labor market.
