Quebec to invite 52,500 Immigrants for PR in 2022
Quebec released its new immigration plan on October 28th, where it stated that it’s aiming to invite up to 52,500 immigrants for permanent residency.
It also stated that most of the immigration will take place through the province’s economic immigration programs:
- Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP)
- Québec experience program (PEQ)
The province of Quebec stated that it would admit 49,500 to 52,500 immigrants in 2022 from all the categories and will also invite 18000 more candidates to meet the required level that the Federal Government couldn’t in the year 2020 due to the restrictions for Covid-19 Pandemic. So, summing this up, 70,000 invitations might be issued by Quebec alone in the year 2022.
The majority target, 65% or 33,900 candidates, is expected to enter through the economic category of the province.
Here, the province is expecting to invite:
- Up to 28,800 skilled workers
- Up to 4,300 business immigrants,( including investors, entrepreneurs, and the self-employed)
The rest of the 18,600 new candidates for permanent residency are expected to arrive via the following pathways:
- Family reunification
- Refugees
- Other immigration programs
In the Immigration levels plan, the Quebec Immigration Department states the number of international candidates it expects to invite for permanent residency in the coming year as well as the categories through which they will be admitted,
Quebec is responsible for its own immigration targets after it signed an immigration agreement with the Federal Government in the year 1991. It is also the only Canadian Province with this agreement.
With the new admission target number out, it is safe to say that the number of invitations has increased in comparison to the past two years.
It is done to fulfill the promise made by Quebec’s current government, the Coalition Avenair Québec, to increase the immigration rates after the targets were set back in the year 2019 by 20%, to increase the quality rather than quantity.
The Government had to lower the admission rates due to its inability to maintain the integration and francization of its immigrants. Soon after, the Quebec Government focused on this area by making many significant investments and taking fruitful decisions.
Along with the current decision, the other thing that the Quebec Government has introduced is the facilitation of international workers in the province of Quebec.
As per the news, it is the perfect time to apply for immigrating to Quebec. With such a large number of admission, it is quite possible for you to crack it and live your dream life in Canada.
