Alberta PNP invites 200 Express Entry candidates for a provincial nomination

On November 9, Alberta invited 200 Express Entry candidates through various PNP streams, for a provincial nomination. With the latest draw in the count, the sum of invitations sent out to Express Entry candidates by Alberta in the year 2021 has reached up to 6,359.
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program had set a minimum cut-off score at 300 for the candidates in Alberta’s Express Entry Stream.
The province started its draws in the month of January 2021, after a temporary hiatus in the later months of 2020. The Express Entry candidates receive invitations to apply for a certificate of nomination by the Province of Alberta, for permanent residency.
The Federal Government had allowed the province of Alberta to issue 6,250 nomination certificates.

How does the Alberta Express Entry Stream work?

The Alberta Express Entry Stream is a PNP-aligned Express Entry stream that allows the province of Alberta to choose and invite skilled foreign candidates from the Express Entry pool to meet the province’s labor demand while issuing PR to them.
Express Entry manages applications for three Federal High Skilled programs:
After registering for the Express Entry stream, the candidates are ranked on their Comprehensive Ranking System score, which considers factors like age, work experience, language skills, etc.
The Express Entry draws are regularly held, inviting the highest-scoring candidates.
Although you can apply for a direct Express Entry stream, getting a provincial nomination adds up to 600 points to the CRS score, which further increases the chances of getting an ITA in the next draw.
