    Express Entry Draw #305 Issues 1,800 ITA's

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) released invitations to apply (ITAs) during the third Express Entry draw this week.

This draw was held on July 18th and specifically targeted candidates proficient in French, with a total of 1,800 ITAs issued based on category-based selection criteria.

Applicants needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 400 to qualify for consideration. This is the seventh Express Entry draw of the month so far.

Details of the draw: July 18, 2024

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

The minimum CRS score from today’s draw marks one of the lowest of the year for any Express Entry draw. In a separate event yesterday, a program-specific draw for 6,300 Canadian Experience Class candidates also featured a record-low score of 515.

Earlier in the week, IRCC invited 1,391 candidates through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-only draw, setting a minimum CRS threshold of 670. Preceding this, the most recent category-based selection draw for French proficiency on July 8th saw 3,200 candidates receiving invitations.

CRS scores for PNP-only Express Entry draws tend to be notably higher, as candidates who have received a provincial nomination automatically gain an additional 600 CRS points, enhancing their overall score. For instance, a candidate originally scoring 300 would achieve a total CRS of 900 upon successful nomination.

This month alone, IRCC has issued 19,161 ITAs across seven distinct draws, making it the busiest period for Express Entry in the current year.

What is the French Language Proficiency Category of Express Entry?

The French Language Proficiency Category of Express Entry is a specialized pathway within Canada’s immigration system that aims to attract and prioritize candidates who possess strong French language skills.

This category is designed to support Canada’s commitment to bilingualism and enhance its francophone communities outside of Quebec. Candidates eligible under this category can receive additional points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), thereby increasing their chances of receiving an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence. This initiative not only promotes linguistic diversity but also aligns with Canada’s efforts to integrate skilled French-speaking immigrants into its labor market and communities across the country.
