    Canada Express Entry Draw : Invites 1,000 for French Language Candidates with CRS 444

    On October 10th, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held a new Express Entry draw, issuing 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to French-speaking candidates. To be eligible in this category-based selection, applicants needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 444.

    A Busy Week for Express Entry Draws

    This was the third Express Entry draw in a single week. On October 9th, IRCC invited 500 Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates with a minimum CRS score of 539. Earlier in the week, on October 4th, 1,613 candidates with Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nominations were invited, needing a minimum score of 743.

    IRCC Focuses on Canadian Experience Class Candidates

    IRCC has recently placed greater emphasis on Canadian Experience Class draws, having invited 21,800 CEC candidates since July 2024. This aligns with the government’s strategy to increase pathways for temporary residents with Canadian work experience, while slightly scaling back on category-based draws. The last category-based draw for non-French-speaking candidates occurred in July and focused on healthcare professionals.

    Comparison to Last Year’s Draws

    This month’s draw frequency is similar to last October when IRCC held four draws and issued over 9,000 ITAs. The focus on CEC and French-speaking candidates reflects IRCC’s goals for the year as it aims to meet its permanent resident targets while supporting the integration of individuals already living and working in Canada.

    What is Express Entry?

    Express Entry is an online system the Canadian government uses to manage applications for permanent residence under three economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. Candidates are ranked based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which takes into account factors like age, education, work experience, and language proficiency. Regular draws are held to invite the highest-ranking candidates to apply for permanent residency.
