Latest Express Entry Draw Issues 1,00 ITAs to French-Speaking Candidates

On September 13, 2024, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued new invitations to apply (ITAs) as part of the latest Express Entry draw.
1,000 ITAs were extended in a category-based draw, specifically targeting candidates with French language proficiency.
To qualify, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 446.

Details of the draw: September 13, 2024

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

    About Express Entry draws:

This marks September’s second Express Entry draw, following an active summer period. In July and August, IRCC held 14 separate draws. Notably, July set a record with nine draws in one month—the highest number since Express Entry’s inception in 2015. IRCC currently uses six categories for these targeted draws
The previous draw occurred on September 9, when 911 ITAs were issued, focusing exclusively on Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates.
IRCC has recently shifted to a trend of conducting multiple draws every two weeks, often including at least one PNP-specific round. This aligns with the department’s ongoing strategy to prioritize domestic draws, aiming to facilitate the transition of temporary residents in Canada to permanent residency and manage the intake of new temporary residents.

    Express Entry Draw Reports

    What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is an online application management system launched by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in 2015. Its purpose is to streamline the selection process for economic immigrants with high-demand skills and qualifications. It manages three key immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
At the heart of the system is the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which evaluates candidates based on factors such as language proficiency, work experience, education, job skills, and age. These criteria are used to generate a total score, with higher-scoring candidates being more likely to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
Express Entry candidates may also apply through Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams that are linked to Express Entry, a process known as enhanced nomination. A nomination from a province gives candidates an additional 600 CRS points, making it almost certain they will receive an ITA in a future draw, depending on the type of draw conducted.
In 2023, IRCC introduced category-based selection draws, targeting candidates with specific, in-demand skills and experience. These draws do not require candidates to belong to anyone Express Entry program, though they must still be part of the Express Entry pool. The CRS cutoff for these draws is often lower than those for general or program-specific draws. Although CRS scores in category-based draws are often lower than in other types of draws, candidates still need to submit an Express Entry profile to be considered. Having a high CRS score continues to be an advantage, regardless of the draw type.

    The six priority categories are:

IRCC reviews these categories annually, indicating that they may evolve over time as labor market needs and demographic trends shift.
