IRCC invites 2,000 French language proficiency candidates

On August 15, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted its latest Express Entry draw, extending invitations to apply (ITAs).

In this round, 2,000 candidates proficient in French were invited through a category-based selection process.

To qualify, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 394.
This draw represents the third of the week, following a program-specific draw on August 14 that invited 3,200 candidates from the Canadian Experience Class.

Details of the draw: August 15, 2024

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
Earlier, on August 13, a draw resulted in 763 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates receiving ITAs, with a required minimum CRS score of 690.
This week’s activity continues the trend from July, which saw a record-breaking number of Express Entry draws. Over 25,000 ITAs were issued across nine separate draws in July.
July stands out as the month with the highest number of Express Entry draws since the system’s inception in 2015, marking a notable recovery from a slow June, which had only one draw.
Four of the July draws were category-based, with two targeting candidates who demonstrated French language proficiency. Notably, the July 18 draw for French speakers had the lowest CRS score of the month, at 400.
The other two category-based draws in July focused on candidates in healthcare and trade professions.
Two of the remaining five draws were dedicated to the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and three were aimed at Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. The highest CRS score of the month was recorded on July 2 for PNP candidates, reaching 739.
The increase in program-specific draws this month, following a year of exclusively category-based and general draws, highlights IRCC’s commitment to conducting more domestic draws for those already residing in Canada. This aligns with the department’s broader strategy to decrease the number of temporary residents while working towards its goal of meeting permanent resident admission targets.

    What is Express Entry?

Express Entry, introduced by IRCC in 2015, is a points-based system designed to streamline the selection process for economic immigration candidates. It evaluates applicants using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which scores candidates based on factors such as age, occupation, education, language ability, and work experience. Those with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residency.
