Canada recent Express Entry CEC invitation round

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued a fresh Express Entry round of invites to the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates.

A total of 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence were issued during the September 3rd draw. Prospects required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 534 and an active Express Entry profile established before August 14, 2025, at 8:28 UTC.

    Results: Rounds of invitations

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

Invitations to apply to the Canadian Experience Class may be issued through this round of invitations.

    Current Draw Action

This CEC-specific draw follows a series of selections across various immigration categories in recent weeks. On September 2, IRCC invited 249 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates with a minimum CRS of 772. Just weeks earlier, on August 19, the department conducted a category-based draw for healthcare and social services professionals, issuing 2,500 ITAs at a CRS cut-off of 470.

The September 3rd draw is the second Express Entry draw for the month and is the continuation of the government’s alternating tactic between the category-based, general, and PNP-based selections.

    2025 Trends For Express Entry

2025 has seen IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) adopting a more program or category-based approach to the selection of applicants, which seems to strategically try to address the economic demands of the country.

The department has issued 57,069 ITAs since the beginning of the year, with the highest number going to PNP, then CEC participants, French-speaking candidates, as well as those in the targeted list of professions, including healthcare, social work, and teaching.

Patterns Emerging in the 2025 Express Entry Draws

IRCC’s approach this year is one where there is a distinct emphasis on targeted invitations and not general draws alone.

The draws are now divided as follows:

This approach is reflective of the fact that Canada is intentionally advancing key areas like healthcare, linguistic diversity, and regional development through the PNP.

    Healthcare-Specific Rounds in 2025

The August 19 draw was the latest in a series of healthcare draws this year. Earlier rounds were:
By announcing progressively larger rounds of draws for health care and social work, Canada is ensuring its commitment to meet the critical gaps in employees at hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes.

For candidates hoping to secure Canadian permanent residence through Express Entry, the current pattern underscores the value of:
Additionally, applicants in healthcare, education, or social services may find themselves prioritized under future category-based rounds.

What are Express Entry’s Category-Based Selections

IRCC has introduced category-based selections in 2023 and expanded in 2025, which helps it to categorically meet the specific job industry demands of the provinces and territories. This focuses on fields like education, healthcare, and French-language proficiency. Canada aims to welcome skilled immigrants better suited to the nation’s demographic and economic goals, to help fill the gaps in the in-demand job roles of the country.

    Looking Ahead

With Canada aiming to welcome hundreds of thousands of new permanent residents annually, Express Entry continues to serve as the main pathway for skilled immigration. Experts anticipate that IRCC will maintain a balanced approach, alternating between broad draws and targeted selections that address specific labor shortages.
For the pool of candidates, the latest draw by the CEC would again reaffirm the fact that the Canadian working applicants remain the priority for the 2025 Canadian immigration plan.
