Express Entry Draw #367: IRCC Invites 2,500 Candidates in Education Occupations

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has resumed issuing invitations under the educational sector of Express Entry for the first time after May 2025. The latest round is the fifth Express Entry draw that occurred in September, indicating the government’s expedited actions to meet its immigration goals.

PNP candidates will likely be awarded more CRS points owing to the other 600 points that are given to the nominee in a province, and hence the higher score threshold over the general-category draws.

    Results: Rounds of invitations

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

Invitations to apply to the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Program may be issued through this round of invitations.

Information Regarding the Recent Education Draw

IRCC issued 2,500 invitations to candidates from the field of education on September 17th, 2025. Applicants should have had at least 462 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, and hence the draw was less competitive than the previous education-specific draw of May 1, when the cut-off was 479. They should also have submitted their Express Entry profiles before July 9, 2025, at 4:24 a.m. UTC.
This draw is just the second education-specific draw ever under the system that Express Entry has been using to issue category-based invitations. Notably, the cut-off score and the number of invitations issued indicate a move toward increased inclusiveness, with more candidates being issued invitations.

It’s the busiest month yet for Express Entry.

    September Express Entry Draws Summary

September has so far been one of the busiest months of 2025 yet for Express Entry activity. The educational draw follows the four prior rounds:
By completing five rounds in under three weeks, IRCC has shown diversification by matching invitations to various categories in balance to target national needs as much as provincial requirements.

    2025 Trends For Express Entry

2025 has seen IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) adopting a more program or category-based approach to the selection of applicants, which seems to strategically try to address the economic demands of the country.

The department has issued 64,297 ITAs since the beginning of the year, with the highest number going to PNP, then CEC participants, French-speaking candidates, as well as those in the targeted list of professions, including healthcare, social work, and teaching.

Patterns Emerging in the 2025 Express Entry Draws

IRCC’s approach this year is one where there is a distinct emphasis on targeted invitations and not general draws alone.

The draws are now divided as follows:

The multi-category scheme can accommodate different priority sectors, such as regional manpower needs and greater representation of the French-speaking community.

    Healthcare-Specific Rounds in 2025

The August 19 draw was the latest in a series of healthcare draws this year. Earlier rounds were:

By announcing progressively larger rounds of draws for health care and social work, Canada is ensuring its commitment to meet the critical gaps in employees at hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes.

Why the Category of Education Matters

The Education stream was launched to target those individuals with higher-than-average educational qualifications who can add value to the knowledge-based economy of Canada. By cutting down the CRS cutoff score and upping the number of invitations, IRCC is making it clear that qualified graduates and professionals will be crucial to Canada’s future workforce.

    Key Points

    What It Means for Applicants

For those aiming for the education stream, the lowered CRS requirement is of paramount importance. The sizable reduction of the score cut-off and the higher June intake over May’s draw in particular reflect Canada’s dedication to favoring superiorly skilled individuals.
For those candidates who haven’t yet activated their Express Entry account, they are actually encouraged to do so, as stream activity is going to extend into the next few months.
