IRCC Conducts Major Express Entry Draw for French-Speaking Candidates

Canada maintains its robust immigration pace during 2025, as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has made yet another mega-sized Express Entry draw inviting 4,500 French-speaking applicants to apply for a permanent stay.
This draw cements Canada’s long-standing reputation for encouraging Francophone immigration beyond Quebec and linguistic variety nationwide. It is also the second Express Entry draw of the month, following the October 1st draw for the CEC category.

    Results: Rounds of invitations

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

Invitations to apply to the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Program may be issued through this round of invitations.

    Historic Year for French-Speaking Immigration

Thus far during 2025, French-speaking candidates have dominated Express Entry draws, receiving 30,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs), significantly more ITAs than all other categories to date.

The March 21, 2025, draw remains the biggest of the year, where 7,500 French-proficient candidates received invitations. This trend aligns with Canada’s goal of boosting Francophone immigration outside Quebec, which IRCC plans to further expand in 2026.
Inclusive of more frequent French-language draws, it showcases the government’s intention of boosting French-speaking communities spread across provinces like Ontario, Manitoba, and New Brunswick.

    Comparison with Recent Estimates

The October 1 selection follows closely on the heels of three separate draws in September:

These subsequent rounds show IRCC’s consistent method of interspersing draws across general, occupation-oriented, and category-specific invitations.

Following the latest draw, the total of ITAs issued under Express Entry for 2025 has come to 71,338.

Collectively, the total depicts the continuous pattern towards Canada’s aggressive immigration targets and strategy to prioritize human capital and even labour market requirements for selected sectors.
