CRS Score Slips Below 400 as IRCC Issues ITAs in Major Express Entry Draw

Canada’s Express Entry system recorded a significant milestone this week as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off dropped below 400 once again, offering renewed optimism to thousands of skilled workers.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted a large-category-based Express Entry draw on December 17, targeting candidates with proficiency in the French language. A total of 6,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued, marking one of the most accessible CRS thresholds seen this year.

    Results: Rounds of invitations

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

Invitations to Apply for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Program may be issued through this round of invitations.

French-Language Draws Gain Momentum in 2025

This was the second French-language-focused draw in less than three weeks. Across these two rounds alone, IRCC has issued over 12,000 ITAs to French-speaking candidates.

So far in 2025, French-language proficiency draws have resulted in 48,000 invitations across nine rounds, making it the most invited category under Express Entry this year. No other stream has seen a comparable volume of ITAs within such a short timeframe.

Total Express Entry ITAs for 2025

Following the latest draw, the total of ITAs issued under Express Entry for 2025 has come to 113,998.

Collectively, the total depicts the continuous pattern towards Canada’s aggressive immigration targets and strategy to prioritize human capital and even labour market requirements for selected sectors.

So far in 2025, IRCC has issued 83,199 invitations to apply through the Express Entry system.
